"The act itself is racist."… "There is a time when silence is not acceptable at all" -Iman speaking out about lack of diversity in high fashion during fashion week a few weeks ago.
Honestly I’d like to see more diversity in regards to all types of model….beauty, commercial, fitness, bridal, etc. It’s important for young women (women in general) to see themselves represented in mainstream media (the lack of black actresses in mainstream media is another beast.)
Long story short, we have a lot of work to do.

**Also, we used a wig for this look during the photo shoot. I’m not quite ready to straighten my hair (if I ever opt to straighten it.)
This video took the Internet by storm a few weeks ago. I’m sharing it on the blog just in case some folks did not see it.
I’m definitely guilty of not being present in the moment due to overuse of my smart phone, but it’s something that I’m aware of and constantly try to do less often.
Can other folks relate?
I feel like there’s something special about sharing a special moment with the people who are there with you during that moment (whatever it is) and not always blasting it to the world, but maybe I’m just old fashioned.
You tell me “No”….
I ask you “Why not?”….
If your justification is “Just because” or “It’s always been that way”….
Then I can’t really take you seriously. Always ask questions folks. Don’t let the thought of breaking barriers or being the first to try something stop you from trying. A lot of the things are the way they are because one person set the standard and it’s been the same way since the beginning….
Just a random thought and reminder for everyone not to be afraid to ask questions.
Happy Friday everyone!
Reminiscent of spring and my twa :)

Side note: It’s crazy how much my hair has grown since then! No longer in the twa stage.
The JEM Collection is hosting a trunk show in collaboration with SEE Eyewear on Saturday September 28th from 11 am - 7 pm in Georgetown. If you’re in the DMV area then definitely stop by to support Jennifer and her lovely line of scarves/accessories. Fall is almost here and the weather is getting cooler, so make sure you’re prepared :)
