This video proves that we are our own worst critics. I truly believe that throughout the years we start to internalize the negative feedback that we receive about our physical beauty which in turn manifests its ugly head in how we view ourselves.

Instead of being super critical of ourselves and others, why don’t we commit to being more positive while appreciating our own and others unique beauty. I have plenty of flaws/imperfections but I own them and have to live with them. I commit to loving the skin that I am in!

Dove has some really great projects that they’ve conducted on our perceptions of beauty. If you haven’t already viewed this video, I hope that you enjoy.

I really enjoyed the images for Dolce & Gabbana’s SS 2013 Collection for Vogue Brasil. As someone who has learned more during the last few years about Brazil’s rich Afro-Brazilian culture/history, I was excited to see the colorful themes and gorgeous natural hair models (especially the little one with the BIG gorgeous hair). Definitely looking forward to seeing more advertisements like this with a little more focus on the Afro-Brazilian beauties taking front center.

Brazil, specifically Salvador Bahia is on my list of places to go soon…here’s to making that happen :)

I hope that everyone enjoyed the Thanksgiving Holiday! I definitely appreciated the holiday break not only for the delicious food, but for the time that it provided me to reflect on how thankful I am.

It’s so easy to get caught up in the hustle and bustle and always focusing on what’s the come….the future. At this time of the year, however I always take a moment to realize how thankful I truly am for the present because it really is a gift.

At this moment in time everyone who I care about is safe, healthy and so am I. For that I am thankful.

P.S…the card above was randomly given to me by an older lady who works in my building. I had no idea what to expect when she asked for my name. To my surprise she wanted to give me a card and wish me safe travels during the Thanksgiving Holiday. I told her that it really made my day and I’m glad that I took a second to ask her how she was doing and what her plans were for the upcoming holiday.

No matter how busy you are definitely remember to take a second and engage with those who are around you. Engage with the present moment.

Why am I so intrigued by this video?

Maybe it’s because of Psy’s hammer pants or infectious good dance moves or because it’s MC Hammer who Psy is performing with? Back in the day, I was known to do a good Hammer impersonation. My family would literally pay me to do the MC Hammer dance, LOL. I honestly never would have thought of this collaboration, but they performed very well together.

No matter the reason, I thought that I’d share this with you so that you too can enjoy the hammer pants, high energy and infectiously good dance moves.

Enjoy and Happy Thanksgiving! Maybe later this video will come in handy when dancing off all of the holiday food :)

Here are a few behind the scenes photos from my shoot with MVK Photography for WINK magazine. At times photo shoots can be extremely time consuming and not (as) glamourous as many would like to believe

At the end of the day however, it’s all about the creative process, having tons of laughs about the random mishaps of the day and sharing those moments with the team that’s involved in bringing the vision to reality! This shoot was exactly that because we literally laughed while being bit by mosquitoes in the woods and almost cried when police officers tried to confiscate the camera in order to erase all of our images from a long day’s shoot. Long story.

At the end of the day, nothing was confiscated and it was all worth it.
